JBF: Paving the Way for New Generations and Leaders

Since its founding, the James Beard Foundation has worked to ensure that the next generation of chefs has the resources they need to pursue and achieve their dreams. Whether through annual scholarship and financial aid awards for culinary school and professional training; mentoring and internship opportunities for chefs of all stripes to gain hands-on experience working alongside established experts; policy training for established chefs to use their voices to drive change; or addressing equality issues among chefs and restaurants, including for women chefs - JBF has led the charge on behalf of our future culinary leaders. In 2018, JBF will continue this legacy through our suite of Impact Programs including: our JBF National Scholars Program which gives high-impact awards to students in each of ten regions across the US; our Chef Boot Camp for Policy and Change which trains chefs to use their voices to advocate for a better food world; and our comprehensive Women's Leadership Programs, which provide women at the earliest and midway points of their careers with mentorship, training, and networking tools to break the "gastro ceiling" of the culinary industry.
