The Green Tie Gala is Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters' signature event.

This year it will take place in the all new event space at Discovery World in Milwaukee! The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25.

This year's theme is Great Lakes at a Crossroads. It is a celebration of the 10 year anniversary of the signing of the Great Lakes Compact, and it will address new challenges our beautiful lakes are facing today.

We will honor three extraordinary efforts to make Wisconsin a better place to live. The 2018 Green Tie Award is going to August Ball, founder of Cream City Conservation in Milwaukee. The Conservation in Action Award honoree is the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and its staff for its series “Burned.” The “Burned” series examined a little discussed toxic industry – chemical barrel refurbishing – that produces a host of serious pollution-related issues in Milwaukee. Our keynote speaker and Visionary Award recipient is Dr. Rachel Havrelock from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Havrelock is an expert in freshwater around the globe, but specializes in the Great Lakes.

The Green Tie Gala is the conservation event of the year. Luminaries from politics, business, and the arts attend each year. The night will feature delicious hors’ d'oeuvres, along with an amazing silent auction, all in a state of the art venue, overlooking the shores of Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee skyline.
