As the story goes, St. George was a young (maybe 18) cavalry soldier in the Roman Army when he rescued the daughter of the town mayor from being eaten by the dragon. Most images shown St. George as a much more mature knight dispatching the dragon from horseback. Here I chose to place young St. George in intimate combat with the dragon.

All of this piece is done in direct wax, manipulated with metal tools and heat. It is then cast in bronze.
Bronze with marble base. 14” x 21” x 10”.
