The 2017 Carle Honors will be awarded at Guastavino’s in New York City. The twelfth annual gala and fundraiser will fête the talented people who have played an instrumental role in making children’s books a vibrant and influential art and literary form in America.

Awards will be presented by Jack Gantos, whose works include Dead End in Norvelt, which won both the 2012 Newbery Award and the Scott O'Dell Award for Best Historical fiction, A Hole in My LifeJoey Pigza Swallowed the Key, and numerous other award-winning books.

The Carle Honors Art Auction - opening online on September 6

In addition to the presentation of awards, The Carle Honors gala will feature original art donated by some of the industry’s most revered artists. (Click here to see last year's auction items.)  The auction, which will feature 25 entries, will be available for bidding here on September 6, and in person at Books of Wonder in New York City from September 6 through 27, before culminating in the silent auction at The Carle Honors benefit gala. Absentee bids will be accepted throughout the auction!
