The Department of Art at Nicholls State University will once again host our interactive fundraiser, Art Works. Art Works is an open studio night, art sale, and auction. This event is unlike any other fundraiser with something new and different every year. This is a casual, fun filled evening where attendees can participate in the creative process, and even make their own artwork to take home.
Art Works has provided numerous educational opportunities for our art students that would not otherwise been available to them. New studio equipment acquired with Art Works funding has impacted every art student in our program. Participation in this event allows you to support efforts to enhance and enrich educational experiences for our students and promotes the arts in our region. The Department of Art is looking forward to welcoming patrons to see our studios, our students, and their art.
Art Works has had a great impact on the educational development of our art students and on enhancing the quality of our program. We invite you to join us in continuing to make a difference in the lives of our students and their artistic development.
This entertaining and creative evening includes: Tours of art studios; Student and faculty demonstrations of metal pouring, printmaking and blacksmithing; Opportunities to participate in hands-on experiences like making pottery on a potter’s wheel, creating your own hand-colored photograph, and printing your own silk screen print. Silent auction items feature one-of-a-kind fine artwork and our own Bon Temps unique hand-painted furniture all created by faculty, alumni, students and professional artists and designers. Student artwork will be available for purchase. This is your chance to view and purchase works by the next generation of great artists!
The cost to attend the event is $50, or in lieu of a ticket, you may create and donate an original piece of artwork approximately 8” x 10” in size that will be displayed and sold during the evening. These must be original works of art and artists must be at least 18 yrs. old. This work will be on sale for $50.00. (Work must be received by March 7.)
Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served along with a cash bar on hand.
(This event is open to adults and individuals 13-17 accompanied by an adult.)
