Aside from the historic ‘Man on the Moon’ photograph taken by Neil Armstrong, the Apollo 11 spaceflight mission brought home another fascinating photograph: Buzz Aldrin’s snap of his boot print on the lunar soil. This photo became one of the most iconic photos from the 1960s.
On the moon, they collected rock and soil samples, performed simple tests, and took photos around the landing site the boot print was taken for study of lunar soil properties and the effects of pressure on the surface. Because there is no wind to blow away their footprints, Man’s first footprints on the Moon will remain for a million years.
Proceeds for this lot benefit the ShareSpace Foundation. The Certificate of Authenticity will be sent to you by registered post after the gala.
