2014 Auction Closed for Bidding
On April 9, 2014, Support Center for Child Advocates (Child Advocates) celebrated 37 years as the nation's leading pro bono legal and social service advocacy organization at our Annual Benefit Reception & Auction. Over 1,000 legal, corporate and individual supporters joined us for this one-of-a-kind cocktail reception, silent and live auction.
This year's event honored community and business leader and philanthropist Ed Satell with the 2014 Judge Lois G. Forer Child Advocacy Award for his commitment to developing and funding over a dozen impactful programs for underprivileged youth, serving thousands of young people around the world who have lost parental support, lived in a substance abuse family, suffered from poverty or lacked an environment for opportunity or a positive role model.
In addition to honoring Ed Satell, Child Advocates celebrated the extraordinary efforts of the following individuals who are changing the story for children recognizing them with the Distinguished Advocates Award: Cynthia Certo (Segal McCambridge Singer & Mahoney, Ltd.), Jeffrey K. Daman (Daman LLC), Katayun I. Jaffari (Ballard Spahr LLP), Chris Kirchner (Philadelphia Children's Alliance), James E. Robinson (Gordon & Rees LLP), William H. Stassen (Fox Rothschild LLP) and Anthony Stover (March of Dimes).
We also honored Professor Edward D. Ohlbaum with a Distinguished Advocates Award. Our whole community was saddened by the news of his untimely death. Eddie served Child Advocates as a Volunteer Attorney, member of the Board of Directors, Chair of the Policy Committee, and consultant on some of the most challenging ethics and practice issues. In future years, we will recognize leaders in child policy, governance and trial advocacy with the Eddie Ohlbaum Distinguished Advocates Award.
Thank you to all who attended and made the event such a huge success!
